To call them “Ditch Lilies” is just plain rude. Unfortunately, Wisconsin’s casual name for this gorgeous species is more geographic in description than appropriate.
A much better name for them is their common name: Day Lilies.
Yes, you’ll see them in ditches along the sides of our rural roads throughout the state, but that doesn’t mean we should disrespect them so.
This beauty just popped out today along with her siblings at Sugar Maple at Hansen Lake.
We are so happy to have them as annual guests here.
