Welcome to Sugar Maple at Hansen Lake

THE HOMESTEAD
Way back in the 1930s a family pioneered this lake—so much so, it's named after them. What we call The Homestead started out as a log cabin, but over the years Howard “Bucky” Hansen added on to it to create the super-comfortable home it is today. This is an incredibly special place—and lake—and Elizabeth and I are determined to keep it that way while making it available for anyone who “gets it” when it comes to appreciating this area's natural peace and beauty.
WELCOME TO HANSEN LAKE
This 22-acre private lake is defined more about what it isn't than what it is. It's a no-wake lake, meaning no motorboats, no party pontoons, no wakeboats blaring 80's hair metal—just plenty of peace, quiet, and you. Perfect for paddleboards, kayaks and canoes, it's a place where relaxation comes in the form of calm, quiet and the ability to completely unplug.
HELLO, SUNSHINE
Facing due east, Sugar Maple gets the very first sun of the day, and the far end of the lake virtually glows at sunset. Embraced and protected by a mix of red pine and hardwood forests, Sugar Maple is a natural retreat from the hustle and bustle of the area's more popular tourist spots. Close enough to visit for the day (then get away from at night), it's perfect for any family who wants access to such attractions, and the ability to get away from them fast.
ONE WORD: COMFY
Yes, we're Up North. Yes, the home was once a log cabin. But roughing it? Not so much. With three bedrooms, a total of four queen beds and two twins, it's got more than enough room for the whole family.
OUTSTANDING AMENITIES
Sugar Maple at Hansen Lake is packed with all sorts of vacation-making amenities that are all included with your stay. Two adult-sized paddleboards, a canoe, fishing from the dock right outside the front door, yard games like cornhole, a firepit perfect for late-night chat sessions—these are just some of the extras that make Sugar Maple extra special.
ABOUT US
Hello there—I'm David, she's Elizabeth, and we are the Knudtens, the owners of Sugar Maple at Hansen Lake. We welcome you to experience the instant "wow!" we felt the moment we first visited this amazing place. One warning though: according to my current tally, somewhere north of 50 species of birds, many of them songbirds, also call Sugar Maple "home." You better like the sound of wind in the trees, the calming ripple of waves on water, and a 360° soundscape of bird song 'cause that's exactly what you get here. —David
